Galaxy's Mathis out after having knee surgery

CARSON, Calif. (AP) Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder Clint Mathis will miss four to six weeks after having surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee.

The team said Monday that Mathis was hurt in training last week and had the surgery Friday in Santa Monica.

Mathis was re-acquired by the Galaxy in January from MLS Cup champion Real Salt Lake. The 32-year-old midfielder, in his third stint with the Galaxy, has already started his rehabilitation and could return to full training before the end of preseason.

Steve Ralston signs with AC St. Louis

ST. LOUIS (AP) Steve Ralston has signed with AC St. Louis of the new North American Soccer League after a 14-year career with Major League Soccer.

The 35-year-old St. Louis native signed Monday, becoming what the new league said was the first MLS player to join a non-MLS team. He will also serve as the club's assistant coach. (MORE)

Castro, Shuttleworth re-sign with the Revs

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) The New England Revolution have re-signed Honduran left midfielder Mauricio Castro and backup goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth.
