Donald defends Honda title at new venue

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) Lee Westwood of England became Europe's No. 1 golfer on Sunday after winning the Dubai World Championship by six strokes.

Westwood shot a course-record 8-under 64 in the final round at the Earth Course to finish at 23-under 265.

He earned $1.25 million with the 31st victory of his career to overtake Rory McIlroy on the season-long money list and win the European Tour's first Race to Dubai since it changed from the European Order of Merit.

Rain cuts LPGA Championship to 54 holes

RICHMOND, Texas (AP) More rain on already saturated grounds at The Houstonian Country Club washed out play at the LPGA Tour Championship on Saturday, forcing tour officials to cut the season-ending event to 54 holes.

Fowler, Brooks share Pebble Beach lead

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (AP) Rickie Fowler shot a 5-under 67 at Del Monte, and former PGA champion Mark Brooks had a 69 at Spyglass Hill on Saturday to share the third-round lead in the Callaway Golf Pebble Beach Invitational.

The 48-year-old Brooks, the tournament winner in 1992 and 2002, and Fowler, the 20-year-old former Oklahoma State star who had two top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour last month, had 7-under 209 totals. Read More...

Sybase Classic off LPGA Tour schedule

CLIFTON, N.J. (AP) After failing to find a venue to replace Upper Montclair Country Club, the Sybase Classic has dropped off the LPGA Tour schedule for 2010.

Tournament organizer Octagon Worldwide didn't renew its contract with Upper Montclair after a three-run at the course, then was unable to reach a deal with Essex County Country Club in West Orange. Read More...

CARLSBAD, Calif. (AP) The LPGA Tour is adding a new $1.7 million tournament at La Costa Resort & Spa outside San Diego in 2010.

Woods 'would love' return to Australia

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) Still wearing his gold jacket from winning the Australian Masters, with his car waiting to take him to the airport, Tiger Woods had one more stop to make at Kingston Heath.

Locust Hill gets 2010 LPGA Championship

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) The LPGA Championship will be held at Locust Hill golf course in suburban Rochester for one year next June, with supermarket chain Wegmans replacing McDonald's as sponsor of the season's second major.

The recession-pinched LPGA Tour is shrinking to 24 tournaments in 2010, down from 27 this year and 34 in 2008. With 13 events in the United States, it's the smallest tour schedule in nearly 40 years. Read More...
